By writer-artist duo known as KaiJu ABOUT:It's been 15 years since magical girl Shimmer Shimmer Sky Patcher Chimaka was defeated. Now an adult, Chimaka has plenty of other things to worry about, like her job as a rock scientist, and her grief over loosing her 'destined' boyfriend. But unfortunately for Chimaka, evil doesn't care about a woman's needs, and Chimaka finds herself suiting up once again - that is, if she can. In order to do that, though, Cimaka must once again learn to believe in love and magic, and so her new friend Pip decides to give her a hand. This LGBT+ comic is a story of finding love in unexpected places, as much as it is about sel-flove. NOTE: This series is rated R16 due to language and nudity. This series is brand new, so we'll update the description later when more detailed information is available. They have also announced that it will be available on WEBTOONS in the future. This ongoing webcomic by Alex Heberling follows a group of Magical Girls whose world-saving powers show up far too late to actually save anyone from the invading alien forces. Instead, Sami seeks out answers, and is soon joined by other girls with powers. Together, they seek to conquer their gifts, discover the origins of their powers and the aliens, and help what remains of humanity to survive. The post-apocalyptic scenes and their focus on survival rather than world-saving is definitely fresh and unique, and is very believably done. At the same time, there's still plenty of classic magical girl moments to go around, especially as these very different girls have to learn to work together. The girls range from late high school into adulthood, and the comic does depict adult issues like death, war themes, and mild gore. There's also some LGBTQ+ content. STATS:ABOUT:Four unlikely girls - Arkayna the Princess, Zarya the orphan ex-pirate, Piper the street orphan elf, and Emerald the genius inventor dwarf - are chosen by the Dragon Disk, an ancient artifact that grants the power of the Mysticons to those who will defend the realm from darkness. The four must learn to work together if they are to defeat a variety of evil villains, and take back their home. The art style is definitely heavily inspired by traditional superheroes, but the setting is a very unique urban-fantasy world, and the girl's powers, journeys, and all the tropes involved make it very much a magical girl show. (See how we define the genre HERE) This Canadian-American cartoon also has novella and comic books that act as mini-adventures to the main tv show. STATS:LANGUAGES: English LENGTH: 40 episodes STATUS: Completed This comic features a diverse, older cast with loads of comedy and LGBTQ+ content. ABOUT:The girls of Zodiac Starforce thought the days of fighting evil - and being friends - were long gone. Unfortunately, they were very wrong. The girls must band together once again, and discover new allies along the way if they want to succeed in defeating their old enemy! There's a lot of humour, high school slice-of-life drama, plenty of romance of both the straight and not varieties. The cast is diverse in terms of origins, body type, size, and personalities.
