ABOUT:Rito, Mari, and Kotoko dream of opening a streetwear shop CALLED park, in the FASHIONABLE Urahara district, filled with cuteness, Japanese culture, and creativity. Unfortunately, Japan is about to be invaded by aliens, who wish to eat up all the creativity and culture of Earth. And so, their dreams have to be put on hold! Luckily for the trio, they bump into Misa, a helpful girl who teaches them how to use the Imagination-powered weapons that will defeat the aliens and save their town. Unfortunately, nothing is quite as cute or innocent as it seems, with plenty of twists and turns to come. This series is a low-budget, Indie production that celebrates the odd nature of creativity and culture, and has a distinctively Harajuku-inspired flare. It's very comedic, and doesn't take itself seriously at all. It also features adult humor and darker themes, especially towards the end, and may not be suitable for younger viewers. STATS:

By writer-artist duo known as KaiJu ABOUT:It's been 15 years since magical girl Shimmer Shimmer Sky Patcher Chimaka was defeated. Now an adult, Chimaka has plenty of other things to worry about, like her job as a rock scientist, and her grief over loosing her 'destined' boyfriend. But unfortunately for Chimaka, evil doesn't care about a woman's needs, and Chimaka finds herself suiting up once again - that is, if she can. In order to do that, though, Cimaka must once again learn to believe in love and magic, and so her new friend Pip decides to give her a hand. This LGBT+ comic is a story of finding love in unexpected places, as much as it is about sel-flove. NOTE: This series is rated R16 due to language and nudity. https://sparklermonthly.com/series/mahou-josei-chimaka/ ABOUT:This visual novel game follows Michiru, a girl who dream of becoming a famous idol singe and sharing the stage with her idols, but can't seem to make any progress.
Michiru wishes on a star for the fame she's always dreamed of, but instead finds herself with a different kind of stardom - that of a magical girl, tasked with saving the world! Now, her idol dreams may be toast! The series is split into two parts, and is the spinoff of another visual novel series, The Fruit of Grisaia. Although not explicit, this game does contain references and images that may not be suitable for younger viewers. Rated R16 - Contains fan-service, adult themes, and other content which may disturb or offend. ABOUT:26-year-old Ureshiko has spent her life protecting the town that she loves, as the magical girl Agnes. But the magical girl powers-that-be don't want a magical adult and send in a younger girl to force Ureshiko into retirement by causing chaos throughout the town. At the same time, Ureshiko faces normal adult issues. She's recently divorced and, having spent her life as a housewife, is exploring the world of adulthood for the first time. Plus, she's falling for a younger man - despite the fact her first kiss will strip her of her magic. There's a few dystopian and deconstruction-style story twists, but overall the series is a lighthearted and nostalgic take on what happens when a magical girl grows up. It does contain a lot of fanservice, often due to Agne's outfit being made for a child rather than an adult, as well as plenty of adult jokes and themes. STATUS:R16 - Contains nudity, violence, bad language, and other content which may disturb or offend. ABOUT:This series rides the line between being a parody, deconstruction, and genuine magical girl series. In Japan, every young girl is a magical one, except, apparently, for Apricot - and it's all she's ever wanted to be. The series follows her attempts to fulfill her dream, avoid her actual destiny, and the antics of her friends and rivals along the way. The cast is interesting and diverse, and it brings up many of the more controversial parts of traditional magical girls in a way few people ever consider. There's also the fun option of having it read left-to-right like a comic, or right-to-left like a manga! It is very adult, with a lot of (obscured) nudity, gore, discussions and references to sex, and other content which is not suitable for a young audience. STATUS: |
