Fresh is the fourth original series in the Precure franchise, and the 6th season overall. For more information, see HERE. ABOUT:Junior High student Love wants nothing more than to become a dancer like her idols the Trinity. While attending a Trinity concert, the Nakewameke appear and attack! Love tries to save Miyuki, Trinity's leader, and a Pirun transforms Love's phone, causing Love to become Cure Peach! Soon, the Nakewameke are causing mayhem around town, and Love's friends Miki and Inori discover their own destinies as Precure, legendary warriors with magic powers and enhanced abilities. The three must work together with Tart and Chiffon, fairy guides sent from the Sweets Kingdom, if they have any hope of stopping the Nakewameke and their leader, Mobius. Meanwhile, the world and people of Labrynth have been brainwashed to be under Mobius' control. It's people fight on his behalf, but not everything is as it seems! There's quite a lot of action, with both monster-of-the-week episodes, alongside different villain arcs. It's also fairly heavy on the slice-of-life episodes, which follow the girl's character growth, as well as introduce a fiery crush/rivalry between Love and a boy. This series is considered one of the most influential since Futari Wa, being both the last of the first stage, and the beginning of modern Precure. It introduces as number of the plot, films, and stylistic elements which are now iconic of the series. It is also the first series where the theme - Dancing - is part of the cure's daily lives as well as impacting the way that they fight, albeit mostly in terms of how they learn to collaborate. STATS:ABOUT:This series is a franchise, where in each season, an new version of 'Princess Momo', from another, magical world, is adopted by a human couple on the 'ground' (earth). In each series, teenage Momo is tasked with helping others to realize and achieve their dreams. In order to do so, she is given the ability to transform into an adult version of herself, complete with a disguise or job relating to the scenario at hand. She has varying degrees of magic skill, and is accompanied by fairy/animal guides. Officially, the two series originally had the same name, with the first being simply Magical Princess Minky Momo (also known as 'Sky Momo'.) Part way through, the second series was renamed as Magical Princess Minky Momo: Hold on to Your Dreams (also known as 'Sea Momo'.)The third series is a manga rather than an anime, and is called Miracle Dream Minky Momo. This series, while visually very cute and initially intended to sell toys to young girls, contains many dark scenes, adult themes, and a lesser degree of genre deconstruction. It is credited as being the first anime to introduce such themes, and open the door to modern, much darker and more adult deconstructions. In many ways, it makes the series a much more realistic and believable take on magical girls than most. However, it is not suitable for a younger audience. TRIGGER WARNING (CONTAINS SPOILERS) |
