Kissanime.ru has the full season with fansubs. If you'd like to read more about streaming, please read THIS. This ongoing webcomic by Alex Heberling follows a group of Magical Girls whose world-saving powers show up far too late to actually save anyone from the invading alien forces. Instead, Sami seeks out answers, and is soon joined by other girls with powers. Together, they seek to conquer their gifts, discover the origins of their powers and the aliens, and help what remains of humanity to survive. The post-apocalyptic scenes and their focus on survival rather than world-saving is definitely fresh and unique, and is very believably done. At the same time, there's still plenty of classic magical girl moments to go around, especially as these very different girls have to learn to work together. The girls range from late high school into adulthood, and the comic does depict adult issues like death, war themes, and mild gore. There's also some LGBTQ+ content. STATS:This series contains language and adult content that is not suitable for younger viewers. ABOUT:Loner university freshman Norah takes home a trinket she thought a customer had dropped - only to discover it's anything but! Soon, Norah is joined by four others - Adelle, Kendall, Paige, and Jordan - each with their own elemental powers, group roles, and weapons. The five must learn to overcome their differences to work together, defend the universe, and keep their grades up. This series is focused on the university experience (and the dramas that come with it,) and is an adult-years coming-of-age story. The cast is also predominantly PoC and Queer. STATS:R16 - Contains nudity, violence, bad language, and other content which may disturb or offend. ABOUT:This series rides the line between being a parody, deconstruction, and genuine magical girl series. In Japan, every young girl is a magical one, except, apparently, for Apricot - and it's all she's ever wanted to be. The series follows her attempts to fulfill her dream, avoid her actual destiny, and the antics of her friends and rivals along the way. The cast is interesting and diverse, and it brings up many of the more controversial parts of traditional magical girls in a way few people ever consider. There's also the fun option of having it read left-to-right like a comic, or right-to-left like a manga! It is very adult, with a lot of (obscured) nudity, gore, discussions and references to sex, and other content which is not suitable for a young audience. STATUS: |
