By writer-artist duo known as KaiJu ABOUT:It's been 15 years since magical girl Shimmer Shimmer Sky Patcher Chimaka was defeated. Now an adult, Chimaka has plenty of other things to worry about, like her job as a rock scientist, and her grief over loosing her 'destined' boyfriend. But unfortunately for Chimaka, evil doesn't care about a woman's needs, and Chimaka finds herself suiting up once again - that is, if she can. In order to do that, though, Cimaka must once again learn to believe in love and magic, and so her new friend Pip decides to give her a hand. This LGBT+ comic is a story of finding love in unexpected places, as much as it is about sel-flove. NOTE: This series is rated R16 due to language and nudity. Hugtto Precure is the 15th series in the Pretty Cure franchise, You can read about the franchise HERE. ABOUT:Hana dreams of being seen as a mature adult - despite only being a thirteen year old, who has only just started at a new middle school. One day, Hana discovers a mysterious baby, accompanied by Harry, a talking hamster from the future, who are seeking out the four legendary Pretty Cure. These warriors use PreHearts to transform into magical girls with the strength and powers needed to fight off the evil Cirasu Organisation, that seeks to stop time. Hana discovers she herself is a PreCure, and decides to help find the other cures and together, defeat the Cirasu Corp to save a bright future for all. This series brings with it some of the best fighting scenes in Precure, and plenty of slice-of-life comedy, but is also known for being one of the most modern and relevant stories to date - it includes issues like gender, identity, and parenthood. It is also an anniversary season, and features several crossover episodes, so may not be suitable for a new Precure audience. KiraPre is the 14th original series in the Precure franchise. For more information, including how to watch Precure, see HERE. ABOUT:Middle school student Ichika loves sweets and baking, and dreams of working in a patisserie. Unfortunately, she isn't actually very good at baking. Meanwhile, the fairies have been expelled from their home by the evil forces who seek to steal and destroy their KiraKiraru, the magic of feelings that is baked inside sweets. Ichika encounters Pekorin, one of the fairies, who teaches her how to make a better cake. However, the cake is corrupted by evil, and Pekorin attempts to save it. Together, they save the cake, and discover that Ichika has the power to become a Pretty Cure - a legendary Patisserie, able to fight off the monsters and purify KiraKiraru. They are soon joined by other Precure and fairies, who together fight evil, set up a sweets shop, and each pursuing their own dreams. This series has less 'school' than others in the franchise, but still retains the slice-of-life style through the patisserie and the girls individual interests. There's plenty of comedy, a lightweight yuri romance, and of course the iconic Precure action scenes. Happiness Charge is the 9th original series in the Precure franchise. For more information, including how to watch Precure, see HERE. ABOUT:Queen Mirage begins her assault on Earth, sending in an army of soldiers and monsters to wreak havoc. Hime, from the Blue Sky Kingdom that was taken over by Queen Mirage, becomes Cure Princess, a member of the Pretty Cure warriors who fight evil and defend the Earth. But rather than saving anyone, Hime runs away scared. Hime seeks out a partner to help her fight, and finds middle school student and average human Megumi. Together, they team up with other Cures to do their best to save the day. The series themes are cultural dances, fashion, mirrors, and trading cards. It's much more comedic - becoming an outright parody at some points - that the other Precure series. It also has love triangles and romance which Precure usually doesn't do. ABOUT:As a baby, Yucie was adopted by a Knight, who retired to the country to raise her. Years later, Yucie - now a cursed 17-year-old stuck in a 10-year-old's body - is sent to the prestigious Princess Academy. Yucie, who was raised in the country, struggles to fit in - but she isn't the only one. Yucie, along with four other candidates - Glenda, Elmina, Cocoloo and Beth - must compete to find the Crystal Flowers that are scattered across the Human, Demon, Spirit, and Fairy realms. Each girl has her own motivations for doing so. Once the task is complete, the Crystal Flowers will complete the Eternal Tiara. The Tiara will then choose the Platinum Princess, who will rule the realms with great power, from the five candidates. Unfortunately, nothing is quite as it seems, and everything they want and believe in will be turned on it's head. At the same time, they must all complete the school's curriculum, which includes community service. Being from Earth, Yucie's magic comes from learning and magical objects, which puts her at a disadvantage to the others whose power is inherent. But Yucie's wit, positive attitude, and perseverance leads to the girls helping each other out in order to complete each task. This series is dramatic, and comedic, with many twists and turns. There is even a romantic side-story as well! |
