The three girls must overcome their differences if they're to work together, and they'll need to if they want to discover what's polluting the ocean, and save both the human and ocean worlds. Adora, an orphan raised by the Horde, discovers a magical sword which allows her to transform into the Princess of Power, She Ra. As She Ra, Adora encounter the Resistance, and slowly discovers that the Horde - intent on conquering and controlling their world, known as Etheria - and that everything she was raised to fight for is wrong. Adora has to choose a side - between her family and newfound friends. In order to defeat the Horde, the Princess Alliance - made up by the powerful, magical princesses from the different lands across Etheria - must be brought back together. It's a task filled with mayhem, danger, betrayal, and the occasional musical number. There are several confirmed LGBT+ characters, but also a lot of queer-baiting. This series is a Netflix-produced reboot of an 80s cartoon, with a new storyline, diverse cast, and no longer a spinoff of He Man. ABOUT:Star Darlings is a multimedia franchise by Disney. Starlings live in Starland an alternate, magical world where Starlings use their magic powers to grant wishes to the people of Earth. U nfortunately, all is not well and a mysterious evil force threatens to wipe out the world of the Starlings! Twelve unique young girls are chosen to defeat the evil forces, save their world, and keep granting the wishes of Earthlings. These girls are known as the Star Darlings, and together they must learn to use their magic to discover the truth, defeat evil - but also to have fun, and make friends along the way. This series contains language and adult content that is not suitable for younger viewers. ABOUT:Loner university freshman Norah takes home a trinket she thought a customer had dropped - only to discover it's anything but! Soon, Norah is joined by four others - Adelle, Kendall, Paige, and Jordan - each with their own elemental powers, group roles, and weapons. The five must learn to overcome their differences to work together, defend the universe, and keep their grades up. This series is focused on the university experience (and the dramas that come with it,) and is an adult-years coming-of-age story. The cast is also predominantly PoC and Queer. STATS:ABOUT:ChaCha is a witch-in-training. She's clumsy, forgetful, and regularly summons the wrong thing (largely due to the words sounding the same, similar, or puns.) But when her friends are in trouble, ChaCha is the first person to lend a hand. ChaCha's friends are equally magical - a young boy descended from werewolves named Riiya, a sometimes-mermaid named Marin, ChaCha's somewhat-rival magician Shiine, and a number of other magical creatures in training, along with their teachers. ChaCha and her friends are given magical devices by ChaCha's teachers, which allow ChaCha to transform into the Magical Princess, which boosts her powers. And it turns out, she needs all the help she can get, as Daimaō and his minions intend to wreak havoc on the land! It should be noted the the first two anime series are completely unique and act as "Prequels." The third series blends stories from the manga with new anime-only ones, while the fourth and fifth series follow the manga arcs. This series is very light hearted, slightly romantic, and non-violent. It contains many ministories focusing on the problem of the day, with the main arcs being less important. There's plenty of references to fairytales, particularly Western ones -ChaCha for example represents Red Riding Hood! STATS: |
