ABOUT:Dame Daffodil is a (mostly) black-and-white series about Charo, a young, smiling girl who only wants to be a hero. As both Charo and her alter ego, Dame Daffodil, she solves everyday issues - and occasionally battles monsters - in a very slice-of-life format. It's largely non-violent, and doesn't take itself too seriously as a whole. Also featured are Charo's protective brother Momo; and Alesea, their mutual friend. The cast is diverse and interesting, albeit not overly fleshed out given how short it is. It is currently going through a reboot only available on Patreon for now, though some updates/spoilers are available via social media. It is unknown when or if it will be released publicly. STATS:LANGUAGE: English LENGTH: 7 Chapters STATUS: Hiatus WHO SHOULD READ IT:If you're looking for a chill, simple, short series with an easygoing lead, definitely check out this adorable comic.
ABOUT:The Wonder Planet is a Star planet divided into seven kingdoms. Sunny Kingdom Princess twins, Fine and Rein, discover that their world is in danger of falling into darkness, as the Sun's Blessing which keeps them together is failing. Princess Grace, who prevented the same disaster some years ago, gifts Fine and Rein with Prominence, which allows the twins to use magic that will save their world. The girls are also guided by Grace's fairy friend Poomo. At the same time, the girls are coming of age, and must attend and participate in contests pitching all the princesses of the planet against one another! The girls must face, defeat, and befriend these other competitors - oh, and there's a little bit of romance along the way! There's a lot of slapstick comedy, children's humor, and plenty of slice-of-life episodes with both everyday and magical adventures. The twins manage to create plenty of chaos even - or especially - when they aren't saving their universe. The series plot and villains evolves for the second series, with new villains and locations. STATS:LANGUAGES: Japanese (dub), Cantonese (dub), English (sub) LENGTH: 103 Episodes / 2 Volumes STATUS: Completed WHO SHOULD WATCH IT:ABOUT:Catholic school student Meimi becomes Saint Tail by night, who uses slight of hand and magic tricks to return things that were wrongfully gained or stolen. However, the Police see her only as a thief, as does her classmate and son of the lead detective, Asuka Jr. Meimi's family life is also unusual - her father is a Magician, and her Mother a former thief herself. This, combined with the Catholic school training, and her friend Seira who is a nun-in-training, lead to some unique moments in Meime's life outside of thieving. The series is known by a few names: Mysterious Thief Saint Tail, Phantom Thief Saint Tail, The Sweet Tales of Saint Tail, and simply, Saint Tail. CONTROVERSY:It's hotly debated whether or not this series is a magical girl. On the one hand, her shtick is doing magic tricks, meaning that they could theoretically be performed in the real world. However, her abilities and tricks tend to stretch well beyond the real of normality and possible physical feats - to the point of being comically extreme. Even canonically, some of these feats are considered highly impossible and potentially truly magical, and not simply sleight-of-hand as Meimi considers it. ABOUT:In a world with magical girls saving lives, mundane high school student Yuko unexpectedly wakes up to find herself with demon horns! It turns out, she's not so mundane after all - she comes from a line of demons, cursed by another clan to be forever in poverty. In order to restore her clan and break the curse, Yuko must defeat a Magical Girl. Soon, Yuko's classmates - including an incredibly strong, yet self-proclaimed "weak" magical girl Momo - are helping Yuko to power up and find a foe to defeat. Unfortunately for them, trouble doesn't stop for training! The series is highly comedic and slice-of-life, and while it's overall very light hearted, it's definitely aimed at a more mature audience due to the comedic style and the way it deconstructs and parodies many traditional magical girl tropes. There's also fanservice, though it's largely shown as comedy.
