Tsubomi moves to a new city, starting a new school where she encounters Erika, her new neighbor. Erika persuades Tsubomi to join the rather small fashion club, while Tsubomi spends her time gardening, both at school and in her Grandmother's store. Meanwhile, Cure Moonlight (teenager Yuki) has been defeated while protecting the Heart Tree - which stores the heart flowers of every person, and has begun to wilt! To keep the heart tree alive, she sends fairies Cyphre and Coffret to find the next generation of Pretty Cure - magical warriors - who will defend the Heart Tree and the lives of all those it protects. Tsubomi and Erika soon find themselves as the chosen ones, and must use their newfound power and friendship to defeat the Desert Apostles, who turn people's heart flowers into evil Desertarians. In defeating the monsters, the girls gain Heart Seeds, which help the Heart Tree to recover. The girls - Erika, Tsubomi, Yuki, and the boyish middle school student council president Istuki - must hold onto hope and friendship if they are to succeed. Like FRESH before it, this series has the themes - Fashion and Flowers - heavily involved in both their Magical Girl and daily lives. HCP is one of the darkest of the Pretty Cure series in terms of the dramas between the girls personal lives, and their relationships with the villains. However, it is still largely cartoon-action violent, with plenty of happy-comedic slice-of-life episodes, and does not contain adult themes. HCP also does away with the long-running romances of the previous series. STATS:WHO SHOULD WATCH IT:
